Recently I watched the 2015 Documentary that covers the serious issue of sexual assault on college campuses across the country. It's unbelievable to me that this has gone on for so long but it's not talked about. This academy award winning documentary was done almost a decade ago. Still today the stats show 26% of college women are still falling victim to this. Also consider its estimated only 20% are reported meaning that number is much much higher. So after a decade how do we still not have a solution to this. More than a quarter of our daughters, the next generation of woman, are beginning their lives already suffering from trauma. I suffer from ptsd and trauma from my time in Special Forces which greatly affects my life but I'm also 44 years old, retired and signed up for it. I know I can speak for every Green Beret when I say that I sacrificed and bare these scars so my daughter would never have to. So what's the solution? I'm sure my solution is the solution. Empower our daughters, give them the skills and tools, build resilience so they are capable to do for themselves what no one else will do.. make their safety the priority.
